Events in Brevard County

We’re expecting an afternoon high in the mid 70’s today and the slightest of chances for a stray shower to blow in off the ocean.
We will see a little bit of a warming trend over the next week as we end 2024, but 2025 is going to bring the next batch of cold air to Central Florida.
Get your Thursday started with some Berry Berry French Toast at Sunrise Diner on 520 in Cocoa Beach!
It’s always nice to be able to take a break from work, no matter how short it is and the past couple days gave you all a little reprieve from the constant barrage of spotlights of local businesses.

Welp, breaks over and it’s time to get right back to it because all of those local businesses thatl ine our streets need your support all year long. Time to get right back to it!
Grab your first cup of post-Christmas coffee at Apocalypse Coffee Roasters on Us1 in Melbourne and we are looking forward to the opening of their West Melbourne location sometime in the beginning of 2025!
Get your pooch over to The Copper Dog on US1 in Melbourne for their next grooming session!
Your A/C has had some nice breaks over the past month and they’ll continue for a couple more months, but that means it’s the perfect time to get Vintage Air and Heat out for a maintenance visit!

I don’t know about you, but the thought of having leftovers from Christmas for days after having leftovers from Thanksgiving for days just isn’t sounding all that great. And since my daughter and her boyfriend head back up to Gainesville tomorrow, I figured that they wouldn’t mind taking some pulled pork home with them and that means it’s time to get the old Big Green Egg from Wassis Meats fired up this morning.

And seeing as I will be kicking off 2025’s adventures with a visit to the Lone Star State three weeks from today, these pork shoulders were coated in BBQ rub from Buc-ee’s, which is one of the places that began making great gas station BBQ in Texas.

Yes you can take the kiddos to hang out in literally the “coolest” spot on the #spacecoast this afternoon, the Space Coast Iceplex in Rockledge!

I have seen Killer in action and he definitely does not mind mixing it up whenever a Christmas ornament decides to invade his turf!

It’s a perfect day to get out of the house and go exploring with your kiddos and there are plenty of nature parks to choose from. Places like Turkey Creek Sanctuary in Palm Bay have awesome nature centers as well. Some of the others that have nature centers are Erna Nixon Park in West Melbourne, the Barrier Island Santcuary in Melbourne Beach, Riverwalk Park on US1 in Rockledge, Rotary Park in Merritt Island, the Enchanted Forest Sanctuary in Titusville and the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge.

Urban Prime in Viera has plenty of options for however you’re planning to welcome the new year!

The Health Bar has locations in Merritt Island and Rockledge that are ready to serve you up a healthy lunch today!

If you’ve never had the pleasure of enjoying a tripleta at The Tiny Turtle in Downtown Cocoa Beach, today would be the perfect opportunity to take care of that for lunch or dinner!

You’ve still got a few days to stop by 321 Ice Cream Bar on Wickham Road in Melbourne to try this month’s extreme shake and yes they have a kid’s version of this is too much to handle.

These are two of the beers that The Boss and I picked up at Intracoastal Brewing Company on Saturday to give to our oldest kiddo and he’s a fan of both.
And yes the two tikis I bought during the event are happy in their new home.
Chez Quans @Chez Quan’s Takeout Restaurant on Aurora Road in Melbourne makes the OG Chicken Pad Thai hands down.

This one isn’t actually mine, my daughter and her boyfriend picked it up today, but man now I want some!
This would be a drastic course of action and thankfully it’s not something that seems probable, at least in the near term. On the other hand, an insurance company can pretty much tell you what they require for you to be insured by them. It’s not like you HAVE to be insured by any one company. But man, if the insurance companies do start charging more for existing shingle roofs and/or not insuring new ones, things will get ugly here in Florida.  Click on the image to read more.
FYI
Yes another business that’s been around for a bit is closing and it’s been known that World of Beer’s time was coming to an end soon. Here’s their post and we wish the owners the best of luck with whatever comes next.
What’s cookin’ at your casa tonight?
At Cafe Mi Casa there’s cedar plank salmon for tonight and a couple of pork shoulders continue to do the low and slow thing for pulled pork tomorrow.
Whit’s Melbourne…. It’s calling you!

Stop by any of their three locations (Downtown Melbourne, on Minton Road in West Melbourne or on Stadium Pkwy. In Viera) for a frozen custard treat!
Yeeeeessssss!!!
