Keep up to date with the businesses and events that we spotlight each day on our social media streams in one spot and without having to be on those social media streams!  This is your Daily Update.

Adios 2024 and here’s to what I sincerely hope is an amazing 2025 for everyone! Happy New Year people! Remember, this whole thing called DEstination Brevard wouldn’t be possible without you constantly coming to see what is going up on this page, all of our other social media streams, on our website and of course in our email newsletters.
Watch for a post coming later this morning with some expectations that I have set for this brand new year as far as what I hope to produce for you and local businesses in Brevard County and maybe (okay most definitely) a live video at some point. Let’s get ‘er done people!
It’s the first day of a brand new year!!! Who’s open today?  Click on the image below to see.
What a perfect day to start a brand new year!!! Look for an afternoon high around 70 and maybe up into the low 70’s, not much of a chance for rain and once the fog burns off later this morning, the sun should be out warming everyone up.
It’ll cool down a little more as we head into and through the weekend and then all eyes remain on what will be the coldest blast of winter weather on Tuesday and that will last for more than a week. Brrrrrr.
It’s the first day of a brand new year and it didn’t take long for the local media to throw something out to make some people freak out over something that honestly can’t be prepared for with the exception of warning people to get away from the beaches. Why do they do this? That’s like warning Floridians to be prepared for a magnitude 7.0+ earthquake, a winter blizzard, a football field sized meteor taking aim at us or a mile wide tornado. We’ve got enough to deal with each hurricane season without having things that most likely won’t ever happen thrown at us.
Okay, maybe I just made it more possible by putting this post out into the universe. 🙂
But again newsie people, give us one day in the new year before you go getting the easily freaked out, freaked out. One day.  Click on the image below to read the story.
2024 saw a record breaking 93 launches, that’s 21 more than the 72 we saw in 2023. It won’t take but a few more this year to get to having over 100 launches and with Blue Origin‘s #NewGlenn rockets possibly launching for the first time within a week, United Launch Alliance‘s Vulcan rockets hopefully launching more often than we’ve seen their Atlas V rockets do and some other private companies getting involved in the business of launching rockets, that’s possible. After all, #SpaceX isn’t going to back off their fast paced launch schedule and they’re working toward getting their massive Starship Superheavy rockets certified out in Texas and then putting them into space from possibly two pads here over the next couple years.
I suppose the big news over the next year or two will be what’s going to happen to NASA – National Aeronautics and Space Administration‘s #Artemis project and the ultra-costly SLS rocket. They’ve come a long way toward getting the second mission off the ground, but with it not taking place until at least spring of 2026, will other companies like SpaceX and Blue Origin show that they have better and less expensive options for getting humans back to the Moon?
Whatever happens this year and beyond, we live on the #spacecoast and we’ll all get a front row seat!  Click on the image below to read the story.
Space news and updates are brought to you by Launch Credit Union.
Start 2025 off with something new and try the Bacon Mac Daddy Cakes at The Tiny Turtle in Downtown Cocoa Beach this morning!

And yes, they are pancakes that are filled with mac & cheese and bacon! Get some!
Apocalypse Coffee Roasters on US1 in Melbourne is ready to serve you that first cup of locally roasted coffee of the year!
It’s the first day of the first month of a brand new year and that means it’s time for our first post of 2025 for any locally owned business to share some information about themselves with our audience. Comment below and tag your business. This post will remain pinned to the top of our page for the entire month and then we’ll do it all over again next month.  Click on the image below to see the comments.
Pretty cool event going on this morning in Melbourne Beach!  Click on the image for more info.
Are you up for a little run and then a plunge in the ocean? This event takes place every New Year’s Day and you can join in if you’re up for it. Click on the image for more info.
Going on this afternoon at Paddling Paradise on US1 in Palm Bay and if you’ve got your own kayak or paddleboard, it’s free. They do have rentals available if you’d like to join in.  Click on the image for more info.
As we close in on 15 years of spotlighting local businesses and things to do in Brevard County (that anniversary is coming up on May 15th), we’re hoping to make your time spent seeing content from Destination Brevard even better.
Some of the things we’ll be doing include; utilizing all of our social media streams more (don’t worry, there won’t really be less showing up here), making sure you know to use our website to get all of the information we provide each day, even more live videos (I’m literally grumbling about the thought of that), more email newsletters (as in several per week), more in depth looks at local businesses in Brevard County and oh there are some other things coming that I’m not ready to announce, but you will most likely be happy to hear about.
We’re also going to continue to provide free spotlights for any locally owned business that asks, but we’re going to push for even more small businesses to become a part of the growing Destination Brevard Online Community of Locally Owned Businesses (DBOCLOB) with some pretty cool options that will be announced this evening.
So yeah, here’s to making 2025 our best year yet and hopefully you enjoy the ride. After all, without you checking in to see what is shared here, this whole thing wouldn’t be possible.
I didn’t see this last night, but hopefully it becomes something akin to Surfing Santas of Cocoa Beach and draws a crowd each year.
Although a rocket would be cool too!
An incredible write up about one of the legands of the local surfing community and yeah you can even spot one of his boards hanging on the wall behind me when I go live for those Destination Brevard In Your Face videos in my office.  Click the image to read more.
Check out the Plant of the Month at Let’s Plant It in Downtown Melbourne and Let’s Plant It Merritt Square! Start the new year off with a new plant for your home or office.
Cafe Mi Casa is ready to serve up some New Year yumminess for good luck!

What’s cookin’ at your casa today to usher in a brand new year?
The Boss wanted to use a free drink thing from 7 Brew Coffee this morning, so The Big Doofus got a Pup Cup to start the new year.

I told him not to get used to this since I don’t drink coffee and the only reason I’d visit this place is when ordered to do so. Even though he’s only ever had one of these before this one, he started whining as soon as we pulled into the drive thru.
Ohana Family Practice on Wickham Road in Viera is open today if you’re needing to get in to be seen.
Check out what @Space Coast Academics in Indialantic has coming up.
Kick off 2025 with some fun at the bar inside Cafe Margaux Restaurant in Cocoa Village this evening!
Free popcorn and a movie at Premiere Theaters Oaks 10 wouldn’t be a bad way to spend some time today.
A new board for the new year is waiting for you at Longboard House!
Might as well kick off 2025 at Cafe Mi Casa with a doozy and on today’s lunch specials board is a Reuben Sandwich with house made smoked pastrami, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, Thousand Island dressing and German hot/ sweet mustard on a toasted pretzel bun.

I suppose we’ll run with some sandwich spotlights from locally owned restaurants next.
Let’s get in some spotlights for some pretty great sandwiches that you can enjoy atl ocally owned restuarants in Brevard County. Going clockwise from the top right; The Beef on Weck at Mainstreet Pub in Downtown Melbourne, The Rolli at Siggy’s – An American Bar on Malabar Road in Palm Bay, The Kilkenny at Meg O’Malleys in Downtown Melbourne and The Southern Reuben at the Hook & Eagle Tavern – Viera East. Talk about four sandwiches that you need to try in 2025 if you haven’t already!
Seaside Creative Art Studio is located just north of 520 in Cocoa Beach and you can click over to their website to see all of the classes and workshops they offer. Start off this new year getting in touch with the creative side you might not even know you have.
It would just be wrong if there wasn’t a #wingwednesday post on the first Wing Wednesday of 2025, so here are four options for you. going clockwise from the top right; Coasters Taphouse on A1A in Cocoa Beach, Sandbar Sports Grill – Satellite Beach on A1A in Satellite Beach and Sandbar Sports Grill – Cocoa BeachRib City at Grant Station on US1 in Grant and Bunky’s Raw Bar & Seafood Grill on A1A in beachside Melbourne.
Soooo, I’m NOT an Ohio State fan, BUT the Buckeye Sundae at Scoop ‘N Roll (located in the Publix shopping center at the corner of Lake Washington and Wickham in Melbourne) is something we can all root for.
Awesome news from Black Cat Coffee in Titusville!
Seems like it at this point.
