Events in Brevard County

It might be pretty chilly outside this morning, but it’s going to end up being a picture perfect winter day in Central Florida with an afternoon high in the low 70’s and the sun will be getting plenty of time to do its thing. We’re still expecting an even warmer day tomorrow and then things get REALLY cold starting Tuesday.
That cold is going to stick around at least through the 20th of the month and that means we probably won’t see temps even up into the low 70’s for a couple weeks. Whne you wake up Tuesday morning, you’re likely to experience one of if not the coldest temps of the winter as they could be in the upper 30’s. No those weird online forecasts of it getting down into the teens are in no way going to happen this week, but it’s still going to be pretty dang cold.
Make sure you bring your pets inside and check on family members who might not know about what’s coming or that need some help staying warm.
It’s launch day and #SpaceX will attempt to get the second launch of 2024 off the ground from SLC-40 and the window for this #Starlink mission opens at 12:10 p.m.
They have another Starlink mission planned for tomorrow morning which if it goes up would mean three launches in the first six days of the year!  Click on the image below for more info.

It’s rib day at Cafe Mi Casa!

These St. Louis style ribs just went into the @Big Green Egg from Wassis Meats after being rubbed with mustard and the last my my rub from Rudy’s “Country Store” and Bar-B-Q rudysbbq last night. They’ll hang out for three hours just like this and then they’ll be wrapped in foil with a little butter and honey for about 30-45 minutes. After that they will come out of the foil, get basted a couple times with some BBQ that I need to make over the course of about two more hours and then they’ll be finished with a quick sear on the gas grill for a little crispy caramelizing action. It’s a half day process, but completely worth the effort.

Oh and thankfully I’ll be able to stock back up on Rudy’s rub in a week and a half while in Texas for the first road trip of 2025!

Yes the food court at the Buddhist Thai Temple on Aurora Road in Melbourne will be open this morning from about 9:30-12 and a bowl of their soup or really anything else sure would warm you up on this chilly morning!
