Keep up to date with the businesses and events that we spotlight each day on our social media streams in one spot and without having to be on those social media streams! This is your Daily Update.
Here’s today’s list of events in Brevard County and where you can listen to live music and it’s brought to you by Doug Herrell Plumbing, Brevard’s #1 Choice for Polybutylene Piping Replacement. Click on the image below to see the list.
While temps in south and central Brevard seem to have managed to stay in the low 40’s this morning, there are some upper 30’s popping up in portions of north Brevard. We’re expecting to see afternoon highs in the upper 50’s today and no, there’s no chance for rain. The good news for those who aren’t fans of the cold is that things won’t be this cold again for a little bit and tomorrow could be about ten degrees warmer.
Start your Thursday off with breakfast on a made in NYC bagel at Rocket Bagels deli & catering on Murrell Road in Rockledge.
Check out these January specials at Apocalypse Coffee Roasters on US1 in Melbourne!
Elevation Contractors will be at the Melbourne Home Show this weekend. Stop by to check out their booth and if you’re thinking about some home renovations this year, it’ll be the perfect time to get face to face with them.
Space Coast Trimlight – The Outdoor Lighting Pros will be set up at Urban Prime in Viera on Sunday for the first Space Coast Cars and Motorcycles Show car show of 2025.

It’s a brand new year and Dance Arts Centre has studios in Indian Harbour Beach and Melbourne to help your aspiration dancers (young and not as young) express themselves!
Is it too early to start thinking about dinner? Nope. Especially when it’s to remind you about Burger Night at the Hook & Eagle Tavern – Viera East!
Yep, the annual Long Doggers Christmas tree bonfire is this Saturday at Nance Park!
Thinking about getting a new roof this year? Give DC Roofing a call for a quote!
If you’re looking at upgrading your waterfront property with a new seawall, dock or boathouse, click over to see what DC Marine Construction can do.
**Pushed back until Sunday at 1 a.m.**
Will
Blue Origin attempt to get the first
#NewGlenn rocket off the ground at SLC-36 tonight? There’s nothing so far to suggest that they’ve pushed the test flight back yet and that window opens at 1 a.m.
If you’re wanting to get the best view of the launch, Jetty Park at
Port Canaveral will be the #1 spot to be followed by anywhere along the beach down to the
Westgate Cocoa Beach Pier and even farther south. Expect Jetty Park to start filling up by early this evening and yes even though this launch is scheduled for the early morning hours, you can count on thousands of visitors coming to Brevard County hoping to see it lift off.
Blue Origin is also going to attempt to land the first stage on a barge out in the Atlantic just like SpaceX does on a regular basis.
Here’s to hoping for a successful launch whether it takes place tonight or at another time.
What a cool and historic shot of Discovery AND Endeavour outside and nose to nose.
How many of you have gone to see these shuttles at their current homes (outside of DC for Discovery and in LA for Endeavour)?
I’ve been to see Discovery twice so far and Endeavour once. Check the comments below for a photo and video from those visits.
You can still get a seat for the first wine pairing event of 2025 at
Cafe Margaux Restaurant in Cocoa Village that takes place tonight and tomorrow night!
Our weekly Upcoming Events email newsletter is going out this evening to get you ready for the weekend. If you have not signed up to receive our emails, the link to do so is in comments and we only use our emails to provide you with even more information about local businesses, events and news. Pulled this photo out of my archives from a visit to our nation’s capital back in 2012. It’s the
Washington National Cathedral where the official state funeral for President Jimmy Carter is taking place today. I’ve been to DC once since then (back in 2023 with my son for a day drip) and I’m pretty sure The Boss and I will be going up in October for a weekend.
During the 2012 trip, my family was able to take a private tour of the Capitol and
Congressman Bill Posey‘s office thanks to one of his interns at the time and we were also able to take a tour of the White House on that trip! I suppose I’ll be messaging Congressman
Mike Haridopolos once we have a date set to see if we can check out the Capitol again 13 years later.
Oh, on that trip back in 2012 while we were walking outside of one of the House of Representives buildings, we had some random Congressman come up to us and tell us about a place to take the kids to eat that had a s’mores shake. It was called
Good Stuff Eatery and yes when my son and I went back up in 2023, we went there again!
Our daily lists of where you can listen to live music are brought to you by
Longboards Oceanfront Melbourne and they are the largest lists of their kind in Brevard County. That being said, even though I spend several hours each day searching for musicians and venues to put on them, there’s no way to get them all. If you are a venue that hosts live music or you’re a musician that plays locally, make sure you’re included in these lists on our website.
I’m already starting to work on the first week of February and sending me info about where you’re playing over the next day or so might not even be seen. If you can, send the info well in advance to make sure it’s included and no there’s no charge for this. We simply want to give our audience as many options for things to do as possible each day.
I mean seriously….. It’s 46 degrees outside even though the sun has been up for a couple hours and that’s basically on par with conditions in Antarctica right now right?
But I will still wear shorts!
Don’t feel like cooking dinner tonight?
Wassis Meats on Wickham Road in Melbourne is smoking ribs right now!
Yes a stromboli from Time Square Pizza on Wickham Road in Suntree would be the perfect option for lunch or dinner today!
Looking for an option for fresh seafood to cook at home? Then check out The Seafood Market at Riggs Outpost on Melbourne Ave. in Downtown Melbourne!
If you’re thinking of doing such a thing, understand that most if not all restaurants have cameras in them and you’re gonna get famous in a way that you might not choose to get famous if you decide to eat and/or drink without paying.
Hopefully you all are okay and nothing was lost.
People, go give the crew at
Cedar’s Cafe an extra helping of support today!
No
Blue Origin launch tonight people. Thye are now looking a 1 a.m. Sunday.
If you’ve got something to add to the discussion about parking in Downtown Melbourne, here’s your chance.
It’s 55 degrees outside this afternoon, the wind chill is making it seem like it’s a bit cooler than that and the sun isn’t even helping because of that wind which continues to try and turn us into human popsicles!
This is some freaky shiz going on outside this week. Freaky I say!
And to think that some of you are actually smiling about it….
I get the whole bear hibernation thing now. Curling up under blankets until it’s in the upper 60’s again sure sounds like a good idea. Thankfully that’ll be tomorrow.
Get your preorders in for cinnamon rolls at
The Sweet Heartist on Wickham Road in Suntree. They will be ready on Saturday and yes if you like cinnamon rolls, you’ll LOVE theirs.
FYI
Forget making dinner tonight. Let
Taj: Modern Indian Cuisine do the cooking for you and yes each of these $10 orders is enough for two people!
Get over to
The Broken Barrel Tavern on Babcock St. in Palm Bay for a rack of ribs tonight for dinner and yes they’re only available after 4 p.m.!
This page will be updated throughout the day as we add more content on our social media streams.
You’re probably already following our Facebook business page, but we also have a Facebook group page Destination Brevard.
